November will see the 26th global climate change meeting, otherwise known as COP26. World leaders from government, industry and the financial markets are already making grand commitments to address the global climate challenge, but how does it relate to a small medium enterprise in middle America, or a large cap company traded internationally? This session will help attendees understand the market dynamics causing investors like BlackRock and government agencies like the SEC to seek corporate disclosure of carbon emissions. It will also explain how and why many of the world's largest companies are demanding carbon disclosure information from suppliers. Whether large or small, public or private most every company is going to get the question "what's your carbon footprint?"
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon completing this program, participants will be able to:
- Explain the meaning of "carbon footprint" and what it means to your organization
- Identify the methods that ESG scoring agencies use to calculate carbon footprint
- Identify actions IR professionals can take to increase engagement with ESG-focused investors
