NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The New York Chapter of the National
Investor Relations Institute (NIRI-NY) will hold a practical and
educational panel discussion entitled, "Demystifying the Markets" on
Thursday, January 21, 2010. The program will cover the new market
structure, new lingo and new players, and will touch on how this new
landscape affects investor relations officers. The expert panel will
feature:
- Donald Bollerman, Managing Director, Transaction Services U.S.,
NASDAQ OMX Group. Mr. Bollerman is responsible for the post trade
businesses in U.S. equities, including the Trade Reporting Facility
(TRF), pre- and post-trade risk Management and clearing. Prior to
joining NASDAQ, Mr. Bollerman held positions in trade support at various
Electronic Communication Networks (ECNs) including Instinet, MarketXT
and Brut.
- James Ross, Vice President, NYSE MatchPoint. Mr. Ross oversees the
development and operation of the equity crossing facility for NYSE
Euronext and is also responsible for organizing the company's broader
alternative trading system (ATS) strategy. Prior to joining NYSE in
2006, Mr. Ross was CEO of MatchPoint Trading, a firm dedicated to the
business of electronic call market trading.
- Tim Quast, Founder and Managing Director of ModernIR. Mr. Quast is
a 17-year veteran of the investor relations industry. ModernIR, which
he founded in 2005, parses and categorizes a billion traded shares per
week with its market-structure analytics systems in order to shed light
on the nature of the money behind stock trading. Previously Mr. Quast
served as the first investor relations officer at SureWest
Communications. Prior to founding ModernIR, Mr. Quast spent six years at
Informed Investors, Inc., where he was a co-founder, President and COO
through its merger with Wilink Plc (PrecisionIR) in 2001.
This educational session will be moderated by Baruch's Professor
Robert Schwartz, the Marvin M. Speiser Professor of Finance and
University Distinguished Professor, who recently authored Dark Pools and
Fragmented Markets.
