NIRI-New York Chapter is Honored With Three Awards at NIRI 2009 Annual Confernce

Mary Beth Kissane and Nils Paellmann Also Win Awards

New York, NY – June 15, 2009 - The New York Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI-NY) announced today that the chapter and several members were honored with awards at NIRI’s Chapter/Leadership Awards dinner held in Hollywood, Florida on June 6, 2009. The 2009 NIRI Annual Conference, the largest annual gathering of investor relations professionals in the world, was held in Hollywood on June 7-10, 2009.

NIRI-NY won the award for Best External Affairs (Large Chapter) for the corporate governance conference jointly organized with the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), a Chairman’s Award for the March 2009 “Cash is King” program (jointly with the Virtual Chapter), and shared the award for Best Overall Programming (Large Chapter) with the Boston, Silicon Valley, and Virtual Chapters. Mary Beth Kissane, former President of NIRI-NY and Principal at Walek & Associates, received the inaugural NIRI National Volunteer of the Year Award, which honors a NIRI member who best exemplifies the NIRI mission of “advancing the practice of investor relations and professional competency and stature of NIRI members” at the national level. Nils Paellmann, President of NIRI-NY for the 2008-2009 term, received an Individual Chapter Leadership award. Mr. Paellmann is Vice President, Investor Relations for Deutsche Telekom.

Mr. Paellmann said, “I am very pleased with the recognition from NIRI National of the excellence of our chapter’s programming, validated by three chapter awards. These awards recognize the dedication, hard work, and innovation of both the NIRI-NY Board of Directors and all of our members who volunteered their time and expertise to make our programs and member outreach so effective. I am also very pleased that our former President Mary Beth Kissane won the first NIRI National Volunteer of the Year Award.”
