roadmaps

The NIRI New York and NIRI Virtual Chapters have partnered to offer our members this webinar.

Research from FCLTGlobal and others confirms that long-term focused companies outperform on financial metrics, including revenues, profitability and stock price, as well as non-financial ones like job creation and sustainability. However, many corporate executives agree that short-term pressure impacts their business decisions and reduces valuation.

One approach to improving the investor-corporate dialogue and better reflecting the views of long-term investors is by moving away from quarterly earnings guidance, as Warren Buffett and Jamie Dimon have recently advocated. Quarterly guidance harnesses management to self-imposed, short-term targets and encourages investors to focus on this time horizon. In contrast, providing investors with a long-term roadmap focused on the fundamental economic drivers of the business can drive an improved dialogue.

Our panel includes Lori Keith, Portfolio Manager at Parnassus Investments; John Cummings, SVP of IR at Salesforce.com; Jeff Glajch, CFO at Graham Corporation; and Sarah Williamson, CEO of FCLTGlobal.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between quarterly guidance and quarterly reporting
